Responsibilities will include: 

- promoting releases 

- evaluating performance 

- providing assistance to application teams 

- upgrading to, and support of SQL Server 2008 

- new database installs 

- support new application installs 

- complete and coordinate changes required by audits 

Required skills: 

Must be familiar with SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008. 

Experience in handling multiple projects/activities at one time 

Be able to meet aggressive deadlines with minimal supervision. 

Minimum 5 years SQL Server database administration experience. 

Windows administration knowledge. 

Must have a combination of technical and project lead skills. 

Must be comfortable in a environment where efficiency is not always defined as the fastest way to get the job done.   

Certification -- MS SQL 2008 is strongly preferred.     

Understanding of .NET Framework / C# would be a plus – not required.

Will coordinate activities of disparate organizations including application teams, infrastructure teams, and business organizations. 

Experience handling mid-large databases (1 GB to 300GB range).   Volume and total number of databases is large (5000ish databases to support) – though individual DB sizes will likely not exceed 400GB

Must be detail oriented and be willing to keep in-depth documentation (including status on work, instructions peculiar to a system, deviations from standards)
