I have in South Florida looking for a Walker Developer.  I know this is an older skill set but wanted to see if you have any available consultants.  Please take a careful look at this description and let me know your thoughts.  I look forward to hearing from you.

 

 

Position Description :  Provides specialized technical expertise within an assigned business unit/area, usually as a member of a project team, in the analysis, design, and development of business applications.  He/She provides technical consulting support on projects or system issues.

 

Requirements :  

a) Minimum of 4 (four)years experience technical business application design, development, installation, support and modification in an online environment.

b) Knowledge of project management techniques is required

c) Experience with structured and rapid application design, development, and implementation of new computing architectures.

 

Additional Requirements :  EXPERIENCE:

a) A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience and technical training, is required

b) Four to six years experience in business application design, development, installation, and modification in a Walker/mainframe environment

c) Conceptual knowledge of information technologies and methodologies in mainframe, midrange, and PC computing environments desirable; in-depth experience in one or more is critical

d) Experience in the industry or in a production/service environment similar to that of the employer is preferred

e) Experience with structured design, development, and implementation of new computing architectures

 

Skills and Knowledge:

a) Strong technical knowledge, with hands-on experience managing systems development in the mainframe environment

b) Knowledge of relevant technology, tools, and middleware is required, including: at least 2  Walker Applications CARMS,  WL, WP, or  WF, plus Cobol, Screenbuilder,TGS, DB2, Validator, Intergrator, and Value Prompt.

c) Desired technical skills, but not required include: EZ+, Endevor, SPUFI or QMF, Report Builder, Walker Security, Walker FAM

d) Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms

e) Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills

f) Strong project management knowledge, operating as part of a team organizing, planning, and executing large-scale projects from vision to implementation

g) Solid teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to work on cross-functional project teams and foster team commitment to tasks

 

Working Relationships:

a) Reports to the Manager or Senior Manager - may have a dual reporting relationship with business-unit management

b) Generally has no direct reports or staff responsibility

c) Has regular contact with peer workers in business units and IT personnel

d) Has contact with vendors, industry peers and professional associations to keep informed of existing and evolving industry standards and technologies

 

 

Responsibilities :  

a) Develops technical and business relationships and integrates activities with other departments to ensure successful implementation and support of project efforts

b) Evaluates application software packages and makes recommendations to management

c) Participates with other IT members, customers, and other stakeholders in new product reviews, tests and pilots

d) Collects and analyzes business requirements for large, multifunctional projects

e) Performs feasibility studies, translating requirements into an appropriate design

f) Identifies conflicting business practices and integration issues, suggesting alternative solutions

g) Fosters and maintains good relationships with customer and IT colleagues to meet expected customer service levels.

h) Individuals are competent to perform or integrate works at a high level, working at an in-depth level with in a technical or business area

i) Does not have direct project leadership responsibility, but is familiar with project management techniques and may lead projects, sub-projects or provide project administrative support.

j) Possesses good coaching and consulting skills

k) Main challenge is identifying causes and implementing solutions to business problems in a multifunctional project; assessing and communicating issues of technology impact on the business

l) Shares responsibility with other team members to ensure on-time product delivery or satisfactory application development and/or support
