Yeah thats one of the areas I have a beef with, there is no way short of russian stupidity to reach Rostov much less take it like happened historically!

WiE 1 did not have MSUs. They mean the line is not needed, if it really existed as a viable (ie useful at this scale) line at all. You are still going to be OOS out Rostov way.

#WIE 1st edition had a rail line running into Southern Russia emanating from
Bucharest, allowing the Germans to create a  supplied force axis without
relying on lines emanating from Galicia (but which said lines would then link into the rear net of forward railheads from Rumanian territory as they drove SW
from the German/Soviet frontier in occupied  Poland.
