This backup is 14 Gb in size.I have a space 80Gb hard disk that I wanted to write this backup to as a means of keeping my files safe. It is formatted with Fat32. Whenever I tried to write the image file onto the scratch hd I got the message "insufficient space". This in spite of there being 70Gb free on the scratch drive. Can I assume that FAT32 has a file limit size lower than 14Gb which will not allow me to save my back up data? Also ... when I re-installed SP2 I found a lot of the services that used to start automatically now had to be started manually. AVG email scanner, DHCP and Print Spooler to name a couple. I am having to connect to the Internet via dial-up at the moment. When I connect the computer does not acknowledge an Internet connection and it is difficult for programs to access the Internet although they will do it with a bit of persistence.I tried swapping modems but the problem persists so it looks like something in the OS is causing it.My assumption here is that the dial up connection uses a service to register the connection to the computer and this has not been started. Can anyone tell me which services a dial-up connection will use to register an open Internet connection to the computer so I can turn it on and eliminate this problem? Many thanks Bill Hope you haven't installed SP2 on top of an existing SP3 installation. Shouldn't work, but you never know... Not sure about the service for dial-up - not aware of one. Might be worth doing a driver scan via driveragent.com (fairly reliable, but not free beyond the scan) to see if drivers might be an issue. When creating disk images, set True Image to break the image into a number of files to get around the FAT32 4GB limitation. I specify 2.15 GB, as two of these will fit on a standard DVD. Never seen a problem with SP3 myself. Phil, London |
