It sounds like a BIOS setting to me. 

ESC, F2, or the reqired key (depending on the BIOS) at boot may give
you an option to disable it.

Look for an entry like "enable system beeps" and if that doesn't
exist, you can disable any entries that look like "error reporting". 

I used to have it on a Phoenix BIOS many moons ago and there was no
option to disable it. 
I ended up having to destroy the on board beeper with a screwdriver. ;-)
