The only reason I would not want to buy an LCD screen online is that there is a significant difference in appearance between different types. Using one of the dreaded big name high street stores that I usually avoid like the plague, at least gives you an opportunity to compare. Of course, you could use the showrooms, then still buy online. If you are able to find somewhere that will let you see the one you are buying powered up, it's worth paying a premium IMHO so that you could reject a screen with dead pixels.
