IMHO, it's not really possible to make specific recommendations, but here's
some food for thought.

Flat screens need to be used at their native resolution or else they look
horrid. For a 17" screen, this is usually 1280x1024; a 19" screen will also
be 1280x1024, so is not able to fit any more on the screen, although what
is there will be slightly larger. You need to go larger than 19" in order
to get higher resolution, if that matters to you. (I'm aware of the post
title.)

If you are seriously in to digital photography, trying to match the colours
you see on the screen with what your printer produces is next to impossible
with an LCD. I've tried; I'm sticking with my Mitsubishi DiamondPro CRT for
my graphics machine!

In case you don't know, beware the dead pixels issue. You need to Google
this, and check what the supplier's, and the manufacturer's policies are.

I would always advise against buying an LCD screen online. I went in to a
local branch of Comet, picked what I liked the look of, and asked if they
would set up the actual one I was buying to check for dead pixels. Somewhat
to my surprise, they happily agreed. (Note I am not suggesting Comet as a
place to buy anything, but they were very helpful on that occasion.)
