I've just bought a USB digital television tuner and it outputs its audio
files from radio stations only as MPA format.
I want to convert these to WAV so I can edit them (eg top and tail them) and
save to CD.
I've done a google search on "convert MPA to WAV" and found a few that do a
pretty poor job: the resulting file sounds worse than the original MPA when
played in Windows Media Player or CoolEdit, so evidently there's some lossy
conversion taking place before the file becomes WAV. Once converted the MPA
to MP3 - but at 56 kbps, non-configurable!
River Past isn't too bad, but there's still a slightly metallic edge to the
sound which isn't in the MPA.
What tools would people suggest?
Also, is there a tool that can extra the audio track from an MPG video file
(as captured by the same tuner)?
