There's not much in the way of standards for internal headers, is the
main problem. The last device like this I bought - a 3.5" slot card
reader and USB ports - had three different cables. One for a certain
config of internal header, one for two normal external USB sockets,
and a third that was had 8 separate labelled terminals to fit on any
internal configuration of header pins.
The cabling probably cost more than the chippery.
