I wouldn't take it as gospel. Every machine I've looked at with a gross
memory fault, or missing memory, has given a repeated long beep at POST
regardless of BIOS manufacturer.
If the CPU has been knocked or misaligned as a result of your friend
fitting the memory, that could also cause symptoms of memory failure. I
don't think you have said what the CPU/chipset are.
