Which of NEC or Sony actually makes them, or does it depend on the
model? I had a Sony DVD-RW for a while that was so bad it could hardly
read its own discs back let alone write anything that would work in a
DVD player so I returned it. I've also got a vague memory of being
disappointed by a Sony DVD or even CD ROM drive years earlier, probably
because of the noise.
