98lite http://www.litepc.com/98lite.html
boot it (or win98) from a CD
http://www.lachiesadicristo.it/w98cd/page1.htm
save all dynamic info to/from a USB stick.
Or join your local freecycle, place a WANTED request for a meatier
PC, dump XP/2k on it and lite it up http://www.litepc.com/xplite.html
On my local freecycle revently there's been a few 21" CRTs and several
1.7gig+ PCs, all going for free to a good home.
IME, it'll be stolen or wrecked within weeks so don't fuss too much over it.
