The TX chipset could only cache up to 64MB of RAM; more than that was
supported, but one lost the level 2 cache. I'd personally get a
motherboard with a slightly newer chipset, to get the full benefit of
extra RAM. One would also most likely end up with a superior hard
disk controller. PC100 DIMMs are throwaway, now, so getting
256MB's-worth should be easy. Windows 2000 would almost fly on such a
system.
