well i have filed a bug.


i would like to thank one and all for the all help tha tyou poured in for a distressed user like me.

OK, then I think you have lost your data. Obviosly the partition really
has been formatted as swap space during the installation for whatever
reason. I think you should file a bug at
<https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/+filebug>. Just in case somebody else has
an idea, you should better not change anything on the hda5 partition. But
frankly, I don't have much hope.
