I start my students with styrofoam (clay works well) and toothpicks to predict
shapes because of electron repulsion. I will try to take them from this 3-D
version to the board (computer screen) to assist with 3D from 2D drawings.
>From there I use pre-drilled for the A-Family common bondings. If the class
is to move on to AP, then I take them from the "exceptions found" in predrilled
activities back to styrofoam to VSPER and then to MOT.
(I treat these theories as "created to explain away the exceptions.")
