I have two machines on which up2date consistently tries to set the UP
kernel as the default, although many others that work fine. The two
that have the problem are pretty run-of-the-mill Dell P3 systems. I've
never been able to figure it out (admittedly didn't try very hard,
almost not at all) and only recently I uninstalled the UP kernel just as
