An interesting aspect of Robert A. Herrmann is his Nonconformity in not
making excuses for his theory that Nonstandard Analysis through its
Logical aspects underlies theoretical physics and satisfies the
objections of Wheeler and the views of Herman Weyl.

I have to warn readers that several of Herrmann's articles are
difficult to read unless you are very motivated, but if you know what
he's aiming it you'll probably succeed in understanding the papers if
you keep trying. One paper that turns out to be easier to read if you
look at the underlined or demarcated parts (by dashes, etc.) is most
easily accessible by looking up Nonstandard Analysis or Nonstandard
Analysis applications to physics or similar keywords on the internet.
The paper "Solutions to the 'general grand unification problem' and the
questions 'How did the universe come into being?' and 'Of what is empty
spacecomposed?', 12 Nov. 1994, presented before the Mathematical
Association of America, Western Maryland College meeting, is especially
readable if you follow these suggestions.

Once again, I'll let readers look through Herrmann's papers, and take
this time to point out that in my experience USA Military researchers
are more Nonconformist and Individualist than most non-Military
("civilian") researchers. In fact, I consider the U.S. Military
Academy at West Point to be also among the top 10-12 Universities on
this basis, even though both Universities don't require its tenured
faculty to do continuing research explicitly. The Military mindset
may surprise readers who think of the Military as a type of prison or
self-prison. People in the USA usually go into the Military for
reasons other than Greed, Power, Sensation, or Nepotism, and in fact
put themselves in considerable danger which is almost a prerequisite
for real Nonconformity. Researchers in the Military have done some of
the best work in code-breaking, physics, logic, psychology, psychiatry,
etc. They can be arguably described as not "self-security-seeking",
quite like some of the researchers of nations that have severely
changed their sociocultural systems over the last 100 years. The same
is arguably true in the U.K.
