Thanks Yusuf. I do apprecaite your efforts. As I already mentioned what I need is a table which classifies all Arabic varieties so that students have an overview and a first impression. It should also serve as a kind of orientation. When starting with Arabic you really need to delineate the geographic area and the linguistic situation to give a clear picture. I for instance never thought Chad had anything to do with Arabic. Some countries as mentioned are members of the Arab League for a variety of other reasons. Jamshid |
