I don't think you're right. Plants can take up minerals in different forms
to what people can eg, plants can get nutrients out of rocks and gravel. You
can buy volcanic rock to put on the garden to enrich the mineral content.
I don't hear of people sprinkling volcanic rock over their breakfast cereal
or stirring it into fruit juice.
