Having read this entire thread and seeing that nobody found anything wrong
with your calculations, I'm saving your post for future referrence. Thank
you for posting it.
While I have looked into electrolysis with great interest during my research
of various alternate sources of energy, I found that it wasn't for me. It
just costs too much and is rather dangerous "FOR ME" to get started with
beyond a small scale experimental situation.
You may also wish to do a little research on Bingo Fuel - however, I
consider this fuel to be a little less than attractive as well.
There are some advantages to electrolysis. While storage is a problem, it
doesn't fade. Take a full cubic meter of hydrogen stored in a properly
constructed device and it will still have most, if not all, of its energy
even after 20 years. A battery will most likely be dead by then. Also,
portability can possibly be an advantage in certain situations. Your
comment on using it for a lawnmower is not bad because electric lawnmowers
are a hassle.
Anyway... Thanks for the valuable information and good luck with your future
in the science of alternative energy.
Pete
