The 15,000 year tradition of lunar calendars
<http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/975360.stm>
may be fascinating to some, especially those to whom the astrology
involved still retains some religious significance.

Even so, you have posted this to sci.astro, sci.astro.amateur,
sci.optics, and sci.physics - in all of which it is decidedly
off-topic.

Why do you believe it's off-topic in sci.astro.amateur? There are
people who enjoy watching thin lunar crescents, and a number of them
are found here in sci.astro.amateur. And to them, info about where
and when to try to view thin lunar crescents is useful.

... not to mention attempting to photograph such very thin crescents as well! There is some very serious spam and trolling that should be getting a lot more attention and this is not to suggest that this particular post is either off-topic or spam!
