Martin Brown wrote: Wow. You really are some sort of expert! Let's just say that I do not agree with the majority of your assumptions, your comparisons to other projects are way off the mark, and thus so are your conclusions.I note that you are attempting to make a personal attack here rather than dealing with the substantive technical issues. If that's a personal attack we must not be on usenet. Actually, in any area of communication it would be considered "irony" with a heavy dose of sarcasm. As with my earlier comments on this thread, it may not be kind but it was hardly a personal attack. If you want an example of a personal attack see the comment by "pogo" earlier in this thread. People really ought to get this whole personal attack thing straight, particularly when using it as an excuse to launch a very personal attack of their own. Do you think that they will make the 2009 launch window? Yes or No. I doubt it. So what? And if it is declared "ready" will it be a management decision for PR reasons like the ill fated Challenger disaster or a genuine "engineers ready to launch" with the hardware all fit for purpose. That's not going to happen in this case.If you are truly interested I suggest you read Squyres' book about MER. It gives a glimpse of what goes on during these JPL projects. It "ain't pretty" but it ain't what you think either. I personally think that would be a better use of everyone's time than reading the many ignorant flying-off-the-handle-with-no-regard-for-the-facts posts that I am seeing on this thread! -- Greg Crinklaw Astronomical Software Developer Cloudcroft, New Mexico, USA (33N, 106W, 2700m) SkyTools: http://www.skyhound.com/cs.html Observing: http://www.skyhound.com/sh/skyhound.html Comets: http://comets.skyhound.com To reply take out your eye |
