As the last time I was up there was 2001 and that's when a fellow user gave
me a ride there, I had planned on trying to make it this year, I had planned
on living on as little as I could, putting most of the money into gas and
the entry fee. This was when gas was still down around the $2.00 a gal mark.
I had planed on cleaning the plugs in the engine, making sure all oil,etc.
was topped off and living on as little as I could. I had figured I just
might pull it off, making sure I took my own grub and blanets for sleeping.
I'd planned on taking not only Babylon 8 but Galactica too with even a
chance of Stargate 4 being added.
But now it's a total wash out for me, what with gas up at $3.12 today, it
would cost me near to $300 in gas alone, that alone has killed the project.
This makes me wonder as to how many others might have to change their plans
on going, not only to RTMC but other major events too and they are talking
gas at $4.00 a gal by summer time.
