With all the advances of graphics,animation ect there should be no
real need to explain in words what simple graphics and animations would
serve,the Equinox alignment,the correct relationship between axial and
orbital motion and countless others.
I would easily present and people could easily comprehend how the
Equation of Time works in keeping axial rotation independent and fixed
at 24 hour/360 degrees but no graphical references exist and the
analemma is a 17th century cataloguing geocentric fudge.
Likewise the Equinox alignment which is a wonderful complimentary
extension of the Copernican/Keplerian insights is waiting for a
graphical and animated explanation that people will love.
I guess there is too much at stake for the linguistic fireworks brigade
who have buried astronomy under a welter of a tortured vocabulary and
congratulate themselves that they can squirm out of an argument.
The next revolution is astronomy will be the correct use of graphics
and animations to restore promote the Copernican,Keplerian and
Roemerian insights,the longitude problem and the association of
clocks,geometry and astronomy,the linking of geology with astronomy and
many other exciting possibilities .
Who will be the first to simulate the Equatorial bulge of the Earth by
drawing on the observed differential rotation of the Sun as a basis for
linking astronomy with the development of terrestial surface features
and the motion of crustal segments by the same mechanism that generates
the bulge ?.
