I am not sure what you mean by civilizations. To me a civilization
means the smallest area which we could mark off and loose very little
in explanation for those people. For example the Easter Islands could
be a civilization as it has little or no contact with anyone outside of
that Island while the Hittite Empire could not be classed as a
Civilization as it was in a major way affected by outside influences.
