Now, I will stipulate that the king of Akkad is Nabucco, that Hatti is
Syria-Palestine, that "the city of Judah" is Jerusalem, that the royal
captive is Jehoiakin and the puppet king is Zedekiah. They may be
conjectural for all I know, but I haven't got time to research the whole
lot. The "them" is clearly conjectural and has no logical antecedent
/except for the captives known only from the Bible/. The most logical
object is "it", which would apply to the tribute. The extract says
nothing about the religion of the captured city, and furthermore is the
only reference to the locus in the whole of the Chronicle. Your claim
or implied claim that the Chronicle is corroboration for the whole
farrago of OT mythology is thus spurious. Please note that I have
abstained from abuse.
You have indeed - is that supposed to be to your credit when all you do is
repeat the nonsense spouted by Matt Giwer.
1. Nabucco is a character in an opera.
You don't say: I meant Nebuchadnezzar, and the character represents him.
One of my wry English jokes.
2. The identification of Hatti-land is not conjecture, it is scholarship.
I stipulated it, not knowing for certain either way.
3. The quibble about "them" v. "it" was adequately answered by posts to
Matt. The fact that you ignore them and simply repeat the stupid comment
indicates to me that you *are* Matt.
No doubt he'd love to hear that.
4. As I did not claim that the Babylonian Chronicle corroborates Old
Testament mythology we have yet further evidence that you are indeed
Matt, trying the favourite obfuscation game.
You replied, "The Babylonian Chronicle for a start" to one of my posts.
I though that was what you meant.
In view of 3 and 4 above, I shall no longer treat you with respect as I have
done hitherto. I prefer to correspond with people under their real names
and, in the case of Matt/Martin, I have nothing but contempt for racists and
pseudo-nazis.

I can't wait to see what Mr G has to say to that. Check out my Website
