Toshiba P205D laptop
I am experiencing a problem with quanta where quanta will hang for 30
seconds or so and then resume noral operation. However, after this event, the
fan on my laptop (Toshiba P205D) will increase in speed like under a large CPU
load. The causes of the hang are nothing specific and seem rather random like
after a paste operation it doesn't like, etc.. Despite resuming operations, the
increase in cpu fan speed doesn't go away -- even after closing quanta.
Investigating further with 'ps -elf' I notice that some part of quanta is
still running:
'0 R david 10027 2892 0 80 0 - 64690 - Dec18 ? 00:19:28
quanta'
After killing the process with 'kill 10027' the CPU fan on my laptop retuns
to normal within a few seconds, so whatever is happening is related to this
piece of quanta that remains in memory running.
When hang and stuck process occurs, another symptom is that quanta does
not
start again with the same files opened in the source editor that were there
when I closed it. Rather it starts with the last saved project settings that
were saved at a prior close of quanta before the quanta session was opened in
which the hang occurred. I don't know what to make of that, but hopefully it
will provide another tid-bit of information that makes sense to somebody.
After looking through the bug list, I didn't know whether to open a new bug
for this problem or whether this bug was related to bug 94917, so I will just
posted the symptoms there to help avoid a duplicate.
I don't do web development that often and I hadn't used quanta seriously
before the beginning of the month. After having used it to create a personal
site, I really think this is a great piece of work. The web additions on top of
kate are fantastic and everything is really convenient. I work in kate and vi
quite regularly, but neither is a replacement for the convenience of "Upload
Project File", "Quick File Upload" and great tag insertion and good code
folding features that quanta provides. (I know kate can do the tags and the
folding as well)
If I can post or make anything else available on my site that might help
with this issue, just let me know. Quanta is a fantastic piece of code and if I
can help with this issue, I would be glad to it. I have also looked through
syslog and can't find anything related. Let me know if I can do anything else.
Thanks.
