If you can freely choose your dynamic language, you could also use
PyQt. For which some books are available, such as:

http://www.qtrac.eu/pyqtbook.html

However, if you have enough programming experience, you will probably
have no trouble reading and using the excellent Qt API documention or
a book such as "C++  GUI Programming with Qt 4" by Blanchette and
Summerfield.
