Description
The Development Environment team is seeking a UNIX tools Engineer. The team
is a global group responsible for the development environment at the firm.
The development environment includes all developer tools, build
infrastructure, Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) tools, best practices
and training. It is a highly visible group working with developers across
the firm ? the team has direct impact on developer productivity. The
primary focus of the role is integration and support of 3rd party software
tools into the firm?s environment. This role is a mixture of engineering,
some development and interaction with developers for consulting, support
(specialist knowledge only) and training.
Responsibilities will include
? Delivering, maintaining and supporting a series of widely used
developer/tester tools used throughout the firm IT (E.g., Jira, Perforce,
Electric Commander and QualityCenter)
? Engineering work to integrate new vendor tools into the environment,
performing proof of concepts and evaluations, before deploying them.
Maintain them, upgrade them, improve performance, capacity and stability
? Cover level 2 support escalations
Required skills:
? Highly organized and an experienced engineer/developer
? Extensive engineering skills on Linux and/or Windows operating systems
? Scripting language knowledge (Perl, Python)
? Able to work well with people and multi-task in a highly dynamic
environment
? Experience of supporting users and working with vendors, managing
conflicting priorities
? Good communication skills are essential (the team also delivers training
courses), as the job requires a lot of interaction with developers and
vendors,
Desired skills:
? Experience with implementing vendor applications into an environment
? Strong familiarity with HP Mercury testing tools (Quality Center,
Performance Center, Quick Test Professional)
? Database knowledge, Windows administration
? Apache, Tomcat knowledge
? Familiarity with coding in programming languages such as Java
? Understanding of a software development life cycle and tools is desired
(version control, issue tracking, continuous integration, testing)
? Managing conflicting priorities
