Description:
The application developer will be working on a front-end component of a
web-based application allowing users to create customizable medical forms
of various complexity. The programmatically generated forms are used by
clinicians for data entry within the main ED PulseCheck application.
Additionally, the developer will maintain and extend the code base for
alternative data input devices and other parts of the application.
Summary of Responsibilities
? Develops web-based software that adheres to Picis software
development standards as well as best practices in development.
? Assists in developing test plans (based on specifications), unit
tests, and tests new and updated software programs to ensure specifications
and standards are met.
? Assists in creation and development of software requirement
specifications and writes technical documentation and specifications.
? Maintains and improves object-oriented back-end and JavaScript/AJAX
front-end code bases.
? Communicates with Requirements group, Clinical Informatics and SQA
to understand requirements, customer needs, as well as testing strategies
for off-handed code.
? Gathers feedback from internal users for early-stage applications
and prototypes.
? Researches and suggests improvements to software design and user
interface components.
? Consults with other engineering staff and takes part in code
reviews when appropriate.
? Analyzes specifications and designs efficient software application
solutions.
? Supports, troubleshoots, and maintains existing software
applications.
Required skills:
Education and Experience Required:
? Minimum of three to five years of software application development
experience in a web-based environment.
? Experience with Perl programming language in a database environment
and .NET (preferably C#) is required.
? Bachelor?s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in
Computer Science or similar.
Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
? Experience working with Perl, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and other
web-based application development tools. Intermediate Perl experience
required.
? Experience with AJAX, JSON, Prototype, Scriptaculous, or similar
JavaScript libraries; interest in usability engineering and good eye for
aesthetics
? Knowledge of current trends, tools, and techniques in web-based
software application development environments.
? C# and .NET experience is a big plus.
? Individual fosters professional growth and shows initiative,

? Individual has a customer service orientation, exhibits
professional behaviors, and contributes to team development and performance
