Purpose of Position
The technical architect will guide the architecture, design, and
implementation of new components for ED PulseCheck and other applications
used in hospitals. The architect will be a key contributor and needs to be
able to provide high quality conceptual work and guidance as well as
deliver hands-on development work. The architect must have senior-level
experience working with all aspects of web-based application development in
different environments. The candidate must have experience in high level
language programming, like C# and Perl as well as deep knowledge of
database concepts. Excellent communication skills are required to convey
the concepts to business stakeholders, analysts, and developers.
Summary of Responsibilities
? Lead the architectural effort for new components of Picis?
web-based applications.
? Design the technical architecture to achieve reusable and flexible
components.
? Develop, independently and with other engineers, key architectural
components, frameworks and other code.
? Evaluate and recommend architecture and design for new components.
? Guide implementation of design and assist in prototyping.
? Review current architecture and designs, evaluate and propose
potential improvements.
? Document and present the architectural strategy both internally and
externally.
? Work with customers to understand their needs and design high level
solutions.
? Analyze performance and load implications of recommended
architecture.
? Provide scalability measures and specifications.
? Participate in system testing and integration of application
software.
? Lead and coach developers on the architectural team.
? Study new products and frameworks to anticipate future needs.
? Work with Product Management to understand product functionality
required.
? Create and maintain documentation and design specifications to meet
customer needs and regulatory requirements.
? Spend about 25% of the time on communication.
Required skills:
Education and Experience Required:
? Minimum of eight years of software design and architecture
experience for high-end web-based applications.
? Experience with .NET framework, C#, Perl, SQL, Web Services,
Apache, and IIS is required.
? Development team management or team lead experience.
? Strong object oriented programming skills and best practices in
development expertise.
? Excellent documentation skills.
? Bachelor?s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in
Computer Science or similar.
Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
? Experience working with C#, Perl, HTML, XML, SQL, Apache, and other
web-based application development tools.
? Knowledge of current trends, tools, and techniques in web-based
software application development environments.
? Knowledge of JavaScript, AJAX, and other front-end technologies a
plus.
? Strong knowledge of software development life cycle and
methodologies
? Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as this position
entails significant interaction with analysts, engineers, and customers.
? Individual fosters professional growth and shows initiative,
focuses on principles of continuous improvement. Able to motivate team.
? Individual has a customer service orientation, exhibits
professional behaviors, and contributes to team development and performance
in order to achieve team and organizational goals.
