Description:
The Tufts University Sciences Knowledgebase, TUSK, is a dynamic multimedia
knowledge management system, which supports faculty and students in
teaching and learning. TUSK provides a portal to an integrated body of
knowledge and means to personally organize the vast array of health
information through its related applications such as virtual patient
simulations, quizzes, on-line course evaluations and patient encounter logs
to name a few. Begun in 1995, it serves all Tufts health sciences schools
and programs including the Medical, Dental and Veterinary Schools. Our
department develops and supports the TUSK software. Also, we have shared
our code base to other medical schools around the globe.
We have a unique opportunity for a talented programmer to play a role in a
Tufts-created open source project that is developing relationships with
global partners. The Tufts University Sciences Knowledgebase, TUSK, is a
complete system for teaching and learning in health sciences education.
Join our team of TUSK programmers to develop applications to support
teaching and learning. Be involved in the entire development cycle to
create applications within the framework which will involve requirement
gathering, coding, testing, and releasing. Work with user support to
troubleshoot problems and assist them with documentation writing. Also,
explore new technologies and applications as TUSK grows in the US and in
developing countries.
Required skills:
Bachelor?s degree with at least 1 year of solid Perl programming experience
and at least a basic knowledge of Unix operating system, Apache, MySQL,
Javascript, CSS and HTML required. The position requires strong
programming, communication and problem solving skills.
Desired skills:
Expertise in Perl Programming; experience with HTML::Mason; advanced
knowledge of Apache, MySQL, Javascript, CSS and HTML; experience with
Flash.
