Works with a specialized team of programmers to develop and maintain key
infrastructure and back-end systems for an industry-leading
Internet/E-Commerce company.
DUTIES:
* Participates in a small group of talented programmers
* Programs in Perl and PHP to develop and maintain systems such as
interactive web-based products, online credit card processing, sales
tracking, and customer support applications
* Develops key systems in accordance with long-range software development
roadmaps under strict revision control
* Updates job knowledge by keeping abreast of industry developments,
participating in educational opportunities, reading professional
publications, and maintaining personal networks
* Documents software and systems
Required skills:
REQUIRED SKILLS*:
* Perl
* PHP
* Proficiency in daily use of MySQL
* Proficiency in daily use of Apache web server
* HTML/CSS (hand-coding [NO WYSIWYG!] in dynamic web programming
applications only!)
* XML
* Experience with other scripting and programming languages (Perl, Ruby,
Python, C, etc.) a plus!
* Proficiency in *NIX command line and with common *NIX tools
* Usage of Subversion/CVS in a complex development environment
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Superior time management skills
* Software development cycle fundamentals
* Object-oriented design (OOD) experience
* Software debugging
*Programming expertise in Perl AND PHP, along with an intimate knowledge of
SQL, are ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED! If you are not an expert Perl/LAMP
programmer, DO NOT apply.
Desired skills:
SPECIFIC MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
* At least two years programming in BOTH Perl and PHP
* At least two years developing in a *NIX environment
* At least two years hand-coding HTML/CSS markup
* Four-year college degree or GENUINELY EQUIVALENT professional experience
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The position is occasionally work-at-home and applicant should have access
to a broadband Internet connection and necessary work environment.
Applicant should be within easy driving distance to Lake Mary, FL for
project and scheduled staff meetings. Hours are flexible, but the
successful applicant must have superb time-management skills and be able to
work independently.
Applicants not presently located in the Orlando, FL metro area will be
considered only if immediate relocation is possible.
