That is perfectly normal, and is exactly the same at Gmail,
because there is only one copy of any message,
which may appear in or not appear in different views.

When I drag a message from my "Inbox" (filter) list [not IMAP folder]
to my "SavedMail" filter, the action duplicates a "move";
that is, it is removed from the "Inbox" filter at the same time
as it is added to the "SavedMail" filter.
Perhaps someone can speculate what may differ between our settings,
or between how we are dragging messages,
and figure out what will make them behave identically.
I have obtained identical results with 9.27 and 9.63,
so it can certainly be done, but there are so many scattered
settings, "view" options, and filter options,
that I never know whether I have found them all,
nor whether there is any way of making a single text listing
in which all options appear and can be compared
(Eudora is an example of a program which has exactly this property,
making it easy to thoroughly compare all settings,
without getting lost in a "GUI forest" that can only
be manually explored, one branch at a time).
