If you are using windows xp you should move the folder \Documents and
Settings\username\local settings\appdata\Opera\Opera\mail to your back up
drive. Then you have to edit the opera6.ini file located in \Documents and
Settings\username\appdata\Opera\Opera\profile\. Search for the line where
it says "Mail Root Directory" and type the new location for the mail
floders (i.e e:\operamail).
That`s all

I'd love to be able to back up my mail based on date, remove it from my
hard disk (onto a backup drive or whatever), and if I eventually want to
go back to it, just connect the backup drive, tell Opera where the
backup file is, have the mails from the backup show in all the views
thay were in before and be rid of the backed up mails with no further
worries.
The first part works by setting up a view which auto-filters mail by
date. I could then export and delete all the mail in this folder, but if
I then import it again, will it appear in all the views where it was
before? And do I need to copy the mail back to my mail folder (and
remove it again later), or could I just have them show up while the
backup drive is connected and be gone as soon as I unmount the drive?
Cheers,
Zak
