I use FreePOPs for Hotmail.
www.freepops.org

1) download and install it
2) run FreePOPs-updater - it will update Hotmail plugin for
the latest changes MS made to Hotmail.
3) put FreePops into your startup folder, or just run it.
4) make new account, and on "Servers" tab set:

[Incoming POP server]
Server: localhost
Port number: 2000
Authentication: Auto(plaintext)
Username:<your Hotmail account name>
Password:<your password>

Here you are.

Pitfall: you can use it only to read your mail.
You can fill [Outgoing SMTP server] fields with your
Yahoo settings, of course.
