mail account stuck "connecting" until settings reconfirmed

I have had some problems with my pop account long back, at least since  
O7.54.
And they are still there.

1. One account every now and then says that the password for popping mail  
is wrong. Then, when I immmediately manually check for mail again, all  
goes well.
2. The other account gets stuck "connecting" every now and then. To  
resolve this, I have to go to Tools -> Mail and Chat accounts -> select  
the account -> Edit -> OK -> Close, and all works well (for some time)  
again.

Is this known, or do I happen to have two bad ISPs?
