I managed to import the mail headers by pointing the importer to
accounts.ini, but no bodies..(from backup of old Mail directory).
I set up the newsgroups manually, and still no threaded view, and any
period other than Forever hides all messages.

I deleted all opera entries and made a perfectly clean install, the
tried
the import function without creating any accounts, made a real mess of
mail and news posts mixed.

Then did it all over again with manually created accounts then various
imports, still no mail bodies.
I think I have reached the end of my patience.

Opera is a nice and quick web browser, the mail and news clients needs
serious work... Back to Thunderbird for me, sigh.

I'm sorry that you were unable to get it working. If you're near
Oslo, I'll probably be there in August and we could meet so I could
take a look.

Thank you for your kind offer.

I'll be in Oslo all of August.
This is however a stationary machine (Mac Mini), and I spend time on
Usenet everyday so the non-threaded issue cant wait very long.

OK.

I have given up on the E-mail, and consider all but headings now lost.

So all in all, I am left with three concerns:

1.No Threaded views in the news client.
2.No other "View Period" than "Forever" works in the News client.
3.No proper way of transferring existing mail from one machine or install
to another.

When you manually created the accounts, had you previously deleted the
mail directory so the database file was removed? I do not know why
the first two would occur if your database is not corrupt.

I removed and renamed the old maildirectory, then did a fresh install and manually created the accounts. I have tried so many variations now, so it is a tad hard to remember all the details.

Transferring mail can either be done by copying the mail directory or
importing using the Opera 7/8/9 importer.

I have tried both flavors pluss the Generic mbox file variant(and now the mail bodys are lost, only headers remain). My problem is the Maildirectory got somehow corrupted when uppdating from 9.27 to 9.50, I would therefore prefer to import e-mail only, no prefs or account settings of any kind.

This whole thing reminds me a little of the 9.27 on brand new Vista Premium machines trouble I had where none of you where able to duplicate the problem. Happened in Dec. Opera did not turn up in any account but the Admin. account.

Bad karma in my flat?? :)

Thanx.
