Deleting private data -- cookies

While using 9.64 (10487) Win32 (XP Pro SP2) in another window,
I have checked the first two options of "Delete Private Data"
(temporary cookies and all cookies) then clicked "Delete."

I've repeated this six times, in fact,
and no tabs other than opera:about are open,
yet Tools | Advanced | Cookies
continues to list _hundreds_ of cookies,
which all look like ad tracking cookies.

I can seemingly delete some of these manually,
one at a time, but there is no apparent way
to "select all," and the "Delete private data" function
appears to accomplish nothing at all,
which would mean that I'd have to specifically
click every one of hundreds of cookies and delete one at a time.

I seem to recall that 9.27 may have been similarly affected.

Has this been reported as a bug?

Is there any way to get rid of these hundreds of
now-permanent ad site cookies, other than one manual
deletion at a time? (that would seem to be a losing battle,
as such cookies accumulate an an alarmingly great rate).

Thank you.
