I don't get this. First why would you only want one profile? I
need a weather profile, a surf profile, a wife profile, and a kid
profile.
Nearest I can tell, Opera6.ini is in D:\docs settings\me\appdata
, while my mail is in c:\old docs settings\some old me\appdata
while Opera is installed on e:\program files\opera 10 beta.
Whilst the override ini is in d:\windows\opera.ini
I don't know how this happened other than running with same
profile for 6 years over several harddrive and window
installations.
It would make too much sense to keep a profiles directory as a
sub of Opera directory and use app data for the backup and
failsafe, as I described.
I did a 1 week xp rollback (which alters all exes, bats, inis,
cfgs and not sure what else.) This got back my opera setup,
except for wipeout of all contacts, 90% of emails. At least I
don't need to spend 4 days getting Opera back to a useable state,
or resetup email accounts.
I will need to create a routine to backup the c:\old docs and
settings\old outdated computername\opera\appdata dir.
I don't like backup docs and settings or using that folder since
so much irrelevant crap is stored there like cache. I save all
docs and downloads to 2 self defined folders that no cleanup or
virused program will touch. (Revenge of Mozilla once wiped out
my documents, ha ha.)
