I was having this problem and also one where videos showed as text.
Other than the reinstall (used classic installer), one reply from
Fabian suggested the following:

> Make sure your setting to handle Flash is correct. Preferences ->
> Advanced -> Downloads -> uncheck "Hide file types opened by Opera" ->
> quicksearch for swf, edit the setting and make sure it is set to use
> the Flash plugin, not handled directly by Opera.
