Everything was working fine with Opera and with my Wista pc until
yesterday.
The last thing I did with Opera, I uploaded and erased some files to
Rapidshare.
After that I noticed, whatever URL I would like to go (It does
not matter from bookmarks or I type in a fresh adress or even click
Opera Help), It is trying to save the URL as 'default.htm' or
'search.htm' or 'index.htm' etc., depending on what kind of adress it
is, (trying to make a google search gives you the 'search.htm' file
for instance.) If you save this file, little icon shows that it is an
Internet Explorer file. And when you double click on this icon,
naturally, IE opens and it goes to that adress.

I have a home network. Other pc's (one is XP and another one is Wista)
does not have this problem with Opera at all. They all use same latest
Opera.

I removed Opera from this troubled pc by way of Control Panel and
downloaded a new copy of Opera and installed. But the result is the
same.

Problem could be with Wista. I feel, If I format the disk and
reinstall Wista, everything will be OK. But I keep that option as a
last resort.
Any ideas please?

Hi, I do not have vista anymore, so I hope I remember correctly :-) The problem is, that when you uninstall opera, it leaves its settings in user profile (including bookmarks), so uninstalled opera is uninstalled only half-way ;-)

1. Uninstall opera from control panel again.
2. Delete the rest of opera folder from C:\program files
3. Do a search on drive C for "opera" (vista saves application data usually on C:\users) and make sure you are searching in hidden files. You should find folders named opera somewhere in C:\Users\your username\AppData...
4. Delete all folders "opera" you found

Now you should have a "clean" PC and you can install opera again with default settings. Note, that you will lose your bookmarks, settings, everything you had preconfigured in opera before.

Good luck.
