Go into the preferences, move to the 'Advanced' tab and then down to  
'Shortcuts'.

Now select the Opera 9.2 compatible keyboard setup rather than 'Opera  
Standard' and enable single-key shortcuts. You can also use that section  
of the preferences to customise the keyboard setups.
