Go to the Opera folder and open search.ini.
Look for this string:
URL=http://redir.opera.com/dictionary/?query=%s

Replace it with this:
URL=http://us.imdb.com/find?q=%s;tt=on;nm=on;mx=20

That should take care of it.

The line does not appear to be there. Opera appears to be overriding
the contents of the search.ini. I think it should take the entry that
has Search Type=50. But that entry has and it seems to be ignored.

[Search Engine 13]
Name=IMDB
Verbtext=-1988219522
URL=http://us.imdb.com/find?q=%s;tt=on;nm=on;mx=20
Query=
Key=
Is post=0
Has endseparator=0
Encoding=iso-8859-1
Search Type=50
Position=0
Nameid=0

--mark

Opera doesn't seem to take into account the Search Type=50 any more.
Maybe it has something to do with this:
http://www.opera.com/docs/changelogs/windows/752/index.dml

The only tips I can give you are:
1) Make sure you're opening the search.ini in the Opera folder, not your profile folder. 2) If you still can't find the string, you may use a proxy server that lets you see exactly what URL Opera is using. Then look for that URL in both search.ini files and replace it with http://us.imdb.com/find?q=%s;tt=on;nm=on;mx=20

Here's the link for Burp proxy:
