Practically all those things you described sound almost exactly like you 
accidentally have Opera configured for a slow proxy (I actually did that 
once, when I configured *IE* to use a proxy, and Opera picked up that 
setting automatically when I ran Opera--didn't know about it for a couple 
days), but, of course, you're not. Similar though.
