I had the same problem with my wife's machine, though mine upgraded ok.
I reinstalled 8.54 over the corrupted ver 9, and it came right, all
bookmarks, history, etc ok. Bad moment, though, her machine is a
semi-professional genealogy machine, and the loss of Opera history and
bookmarks would have been major for her.
