Oh yes, we should knowingly predict the eventual "high water mark"
for the future, and beautify our menus with such long numbers
prefixed to each name ;-?

You're correct -- thank you for resolving the mystery of how
these sorting options are set!

Apparently the sorting option last put into effect in the "manager"
persists and tells Opera how to display the menu tree even later,
so it must have had nothing to do with different Opera versions,
as I have been under a delusion thinking all this time!

Did anyone know this from a document or help file,
or was it just a kind of accident as to which part of the elephant
each user had stumbled upon?
