8.50 cookie handling changed? ebay and openoffice.org

Hello,
I suspect since 8.5 but may be some other very recent change on my 
system, both openoffice.org and ebay.co.uk are advising that I must 
enable cookies to login to sites which I have used regularly without 
problem.

Cookies are enabled and it doesn't seem to matter if I identify as 
Opera, Mozilla or IE the problem still occurs.

Any suggestions?
