I have recently upgraded to Opera v9.51 under Windows 98 SE on the
advice of my bank.

It now appears that Opera wants to set up a Secure Connection for almost
every site that I visit along with the increase in time it takes to
accomplish this. In effect, it is taking significantly longer to browse
my favourite "non-secure" sites than ever before. Returning to pages
previously viewed has almost become an impossibility.

To my amazement, Opera now "seemingly" wants secure connections to visit
sites pertaining to weather, discussion forums, airport travel
information, IT Support, Bus & Ferry Timetables and Fares, municipal and
city information, etc, etc.

Why do you think that is happening? Opera will only try to open a secure connection when visiting https addresses.

Note that the security icons on the RHS of the address bar are NOT being
displayed at non-secure websites. It's just that Opera is wanting a
secure connection before downloading these webpages.

Can I configure the "security" requirements of Opera v9.51 connections
to be site driven rather than browser driven...if that is even possible?

Thanks to all who are able to assist and advise.
