Changes in the word boundary algorithm, not possible to tweak this as far  
as I know. I filed a bug on it during the beta stage, we can only hope it  
gets fixed.

You can just hold shift or ctrl+shift to govern how the link is opened. I  
don't think they will ever put those as distinct options in the menu as it  
will get too crowded then.
